Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Popcorn Otter (“Popcorn Otter”, “the app”) is made by Jiji Labs and published by PT JIJI LABS DIGITAL, a company established in Indonesia (Kabupaten Karanganyar, Jawa Tengah) (“we”, “us”). It is an Apple TV app (tvOS 17 or later) with a free iPhone companion (iOS 17 or later) under the same purchase. You can reach us at support@jijilabsdigital.com.

2. What we collect

Through the app, we collect nothing. Popcorn Otter has:

• no account and no sign-in: you never give us a name, email address, phone number or password;
• no Popcorn Otter server or cloud backend: the app does not send your settings, films or viewing history to us, and we have no database of users;
• no analytics, advertising, tracking or other third-party SDKs.

3. Information on your devices

The app stores your family’s settings on your devices: child profiles (names you choose and an animal buddy), the films and folders you approve, screen-time rules (daily and weekend minutes, films per sitting, bedtime, wind-down, finish-the-film, volume limit), viewing progress, and the weekly watch report. The watch report stays on your family’s devices. We cannot see any of it.

Your grown-up PIN and your NAS passwords are stored in the Keychain on your device.

4. Your films and your NAS

Popcorn Otter plays video files you own from a NAS or computer on your home Wi-Fi over SMB. Films stream directly from your NAS to your Apple TV and never leave your home. We do not receive, store or provide any films. The app shows only the titles a parent has approved for a child, and the Top Shelf shows only kid-approved titles.

5. iCloud sync

If iCloud is available, family settings sync between your Apple TVs using Apple’s iCloud key-value storage, and your PIN and NAS passwords sync using iCloud Keychain, all under your own Apple Account. This data is held by Apple under Apple’s privacy practices; we have no access to it. You can turn iCloud sync off in the app under About.

6. Subtitles

On supported Apple TV models, the app can make automatic subtitles. They are generated on your device with Apple’s speech recognition and are never uploaded to us.

7. The iPhone companion

The iPhone app pairs with your Apple TV using a 6-digit code shown on the Apple TV. After pairing, the two devices talk to each other directly over your local network, using TLS. No cloud server is involved.

8. Subscription and payments

Popcorn Otter is free to download, with an optional Popcorn Otter Plus auto-renewing subscription. Apple processes all payments: we never receive your payment-card details or Apple Account credentials. The app uses StoreKit purchase information on your device to unlock Plus and to restore purchases. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in your Apple Account settings; see the Terms of Use.

9. No ads, no tracking, no sharing

Popcorn Otter contains no advertising or analytics and does not track you. We do not sell or share your data, because we do not collect it. This does not prevent the Apple services described above (iCloud and payments).

10. Keeping and deleting data

Your settings remain on your devices until you remove them. To delete your data, delete the app. To also remove synced settings from iCloud, first turn off iCloud sync in the app under About. We cannot delete data for you, because we never hold a copy. Apple’s purchase records and iCloud copies are managed through your Apple Account.

11. If you email us

If you contact support, we receive the contact details and information you choose to send, and email providers process those messages. Share only what is needed; do not send passwords or payment-card details. We use correspondence only to respond to your request, and you may ask us to delete it.

12. Children

Popcorn Otter is designed for parents to manage their children’s viewing. It collects no personal data from children. Parents control everything behind the PIN, including settings and purchases. The app is not in the Kids Category of the App Store.

13. Changes

This policy may be updated as the app changes. The effective date above identifies this version. It covers the Popcorn Otter apps and this page.
